  1. Hey Sean,

My name is Yohei and I’m contacting you on behalf of Bockfest, an all-you-can-drink beer festival at the Vanguard in Hollywood on Saturday, January 14th from 1-5pm.

We have some great breweries participating like Firestone Walker and Bootlegger’s. I think you’ll really enjoy the event if you can come!

I was wondering if you’d be interested in two free tickets, and all we’d ask in return is that you share the event with your fans on Twitter and write about your experience afterwards!

  2. Hey Yohei,

Normally I would be all over your kind offer but I have a scheduling conflict that day. So I won’t be able to attend. I will let people know about it though.

Thanks for contacting me and I hope the event goes well.

  3. Hi Sean,
Love what your blogs are all about, BEER!! We are a local bar in Hermosa Beach that have over 54 craft beers on tap and would love a mention on your site. You can check us out and even get a list of all 54 tap beers. We are planning a Beer Club in which we will be awarding club members who attend beer meetings and try all 54 beers. Would love to connect with you and keep you posted on events for future blogging.
Please let me know if there is any interest on your behalf. Thanks for your time!

  4. Of course there is interest in pushing this L.A. Beer scene along. I will check out your site and the next time that I make the journey from Glendale to Hermosa Beach, I will stop in. Thanks for reaching out.

  5. hi sean,
i was just wondering, if during your time writing this blog, you’ve come to any conclusions as to why the brewery scene in LA is not the same level as san diego or san francisco?

  6. Well, there are two big reasons. But before I get to those, L.A. never really had a scene to begin with so prohibition and the rise of the industrial beer complex really razed brewing to the ground here.

The first main reason that I see is that the land prices here are not conducive to large brewing operations. The same could be said of San Francisco but it really affects people here a lot. Which is why you see Torrance and El Segundo and Agoura Hills flourishing and L.A. proper not so much.

Second, the city of L.A. has little to no understanding of making it easy for breweries to open. San Diego and Portland and other cities make this onerous process less sticky but L.A. simply does not. San Diego and San Francisco seem to be more hospitable to opening a craft brewery.

That being said, that means we have room to grow. If Portland can hold it’s amount of breweries and Denver and San Diego with their populations can do it. There is no reason why Los Angeles can’t either.

  7. Good Afternoon,

I am looking to work with some beer bloggers on producing blogs, or guest blogs for Warsteiner Brewery. They are an online advertising client of mine, and it would be great to be associated with websites like this, it is a beer blog of course.

Please let me know if you would be interested in working with us on something like this.

  8. Hi there,

I am preparing to publish a cool new beer tasting journal. I was wondering if you could offer me some advice or feedback on my product development.

The books have some pretty unique features that I think set them apart from – and well above – the other beer journals on the market. For example, I am doing regional versions that challenge you to taste beers in a specific city/region and then offer rewards for completing challenges (some in partnership with local pubs and breweries).

I am launching a Kickstarter in a few weeks, so I would really appreciate it if you didn’t share publicly anything we discuss about the journal over email before that.

I have made three blog posts about the early stages of the product development on our website – http://www.barrelagedbooks.com – if you are inclined to check that out. There are another six articles in the pipeline leading up to the Kickstarter launch.

Would you or someone on your staff be willing to give me some feedback on some of my elements of the book?

Thanks. I look forward to discussing this with your further.
